The owners and directors of Omnis are all well known, highly regarded and very experienced figures in the field of VAT.

Alan Ross-Sercombe grew up with the tax from its inception in 1972 as an officer within Customs & Excise. In the late 1980s he was a key player in the “Big Six” (as they then were) firms of accountants in Manchester, and in the early 1990s he formed his first independent tax consultancy, The TACS Partnership.

He saw his future in setting up an independent indirect tax practice, unique in the UK, where he could offer a service which offered advice on all aspects of indirect tax, from basic enquiries to the most complex issues, coupled with access to high level legal advice where necessary.

The year 2005 saw him build on that vision for a “one stop shop” which would advise clients from the compliance aspects of their VAT reporting, through the initial stages of disputes with Customs & Excise, to the final stage of conducting Appeals before the VAT & Duties Tribunal.

That vision saw Alan join forces with Nigel Gibbon, of Nigel Gibbon & Co., to form Omnis.

Nigel learned his VAT skills in the Solicitors Office of Customs & Excise which he joined in the middle 80s. During the early 90s he was head of the VAT Appeals Division of the Solicitor’s Office in Manchester, and in the late 90s was Head of Indirect Tax with a major “top 10” firm of Solicitors. 1999 saw Nigel establish his own firm of solicitors specialising in Appeals to the VAT & Duties Tribunal.

In 2005 Alan and Nigel together are the foundation stones of Omnis.
